Frequent Actions
- Open the shelf context menu

Different Mouse Clicks
Clicking on the selected item on a shelf:
- Single click on a file
- Opens Quick Look window with preview of file
- Single click on a folder
- Changes the shelf to show the contents of that folder
- Double click on a file or folder
- Opens the file with its default application
- Folders are opened in Finder
- Control click (or right click) on a file or folder
- Reveals the file/folder in Finder
Drag & Drop
- Drop one or more files on a shelf
- Files/folders are moved to the shelf folder and appear on the shelf
- Files being dragged must be on the same volume as the shelf folder
- Select text in another application and drop it on a shelf
- Creates a new file with the contents of the text selection
- Depending on the text format this will create either:
.txt
– plain text
.rtf
– formatted text
.rtfd
– formatted text with images
- Drag file/folder away from a shelf and drop into Finder or on the Desktop
- Moves the file/folder to the new location
- Drag a file from a shelf into another application (e.g. Mail, TextEdit)
- Depends on the application; probably inserts the file (e.g. as Mail attachment)
- Control click (or right click) and drag a file from a shelf into another application
- Inserts the contents of the file being dragged into the application (e.g. Mail)
- Works for text files (you could have a shelf with text snippets, for example)
